Jamie Coreth is an internationally recognised portrait artist, celebrated for his technical mastery, psychological depth, and refined command of light. While firmly grounded in classical technique, his work brings a distinctly modern and contemporary sensibility to portrait painting.

Coreth’s work is guided by sustained observation from life, and draws upon the traditions of European realist and naturalist painting, from Gustav Klimt and John Singer Sargent to Thomas Lawrence and Joshua Reynolds. His practice is defined not by overt symbolism, but by atmosphere, light and the subtle language of gesture.

After graduating from the University of Oxford in 2010 with a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology, Coreth chose to pursue a career in the arts. He went on to train at the London Atelier of Representational Art, Charles Cecil Studios, and the Florence Academy of Art. In 2014, he graduated from the Academy, where, alongside his studies, he also worked as an Art History lecturer and assistant tutor.

Since graduating, Coreth has achieved significant recognition as a painter and portrait artist. He has received multiple awards, including the National Portrait Gallery’s Young Artists Awards, for his work ‘Dad Sculpting Me’ in 2016, and was shortlisted for the BP Award for his work ‘Portrait of Fatima’ in 2018, which led him to win the Visitors Choice Award. In 2021, he was commissioned to paint the first official joint portrait of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Coreth’s work ranges from family portrait commissions to major institutional projects. His work is held in a number of distinguished collections, including The Corporation of Trinity House, Canterbury Cathedral, The Baltic Exchange, White’s Club, and Berry Bros. & Rudd.
